Bird watching is one of the most popular recreation activities that include wildlife observation. Avid birdwatchers spot and document various species of birds by listening for bird sounds as many bird species are more easily detected and identified by ear than by eye. Bird watching can be done with naked eye or though visual enhancement devices like binoculars or telescopes.

It include Himalayan Forest Thrush (Soothera salimali) is the newest species discovered at Uttarakhand and China border. Some of the often-sighted birds in Uttarakhand are Himalayan monal, Cheer pheasant, red Helen, jungle babbler and great slaty woodpecker.
